Health and Safety Representatives
Monday December 1 to Friday December 5 2008
NUT health and safety representatives in all schools have an essential role to play in monitoring the conditions in which teaching and learning take place. The Union’s course covers all aspects of law and regulation relevant to health and safety in schools. This course aims to: give you practical support and up-to-date information to help you in your role; and help you to develop the knowledge and skills you require in order to carry out your role to maximum effect. Who should attend: New and existing health and safety representatives in schools, colleges, services or units.
Wednesday November 19 to Friday November 21 2008
As the NUT school representative, you are members’ first point of
contact with their Union. If you have not already attended a school
representatives’ course, then you should do so without delay.
This course aims to: build your confidence in your relationship with management and NUT members; increase your awareness of the NUT and its resources and how these can assist you in your role; and equip you with strategies to:
– represent the NUT; extend your knowledge of the NUT and of teachers’ conditions of service; and manage the role of NUT representative alongside the demands of your professional role.
Who should attend: Representatives in schools, colleges, services or units.
Wednesday September 24 to Friday September 26 2008 Part-timers, supply teachers and returners fulfil an increasingly important role in the education service. This course has proved to be very valuable as a springboard into new career opportunities and involvement in the NUT. The course aims to: provide you with information and advice on the NUT’s support for part-time teachers, supply teachers and returners; help you decide on your
priorities and recognise your professional skills; and help you to think about how you want to develop, professionally, personally and in terms of involvement with your Union.
Who should attend: Part-time teachers, supply teachers, returners or those contemplating a return to teaching Friday November 7 2008 to Sunday November 9 2008 Are you in your first year of teaching? If so, this course is for you.
Come along to find out:
how the NUT can support and protect you;
what the NUT advises about teacher induction;
what the NUT stands for; and
how you can become more involved with your Union.
Who should attend: Newly qualified teachers and those training
on school-based routes including the graduate, registered and
overseas trained teacher and Teach First programmes.
31st October to 2nd November 2008 There will be a range of speakers and workshops at the conference.
